Happy Monday, friends! I’ve been sick and miserable for the past couple of weeks, so I haven’t felt much like blogging lately. To be honest, I haven’t been doing much of anything aside from falling asleep on the couch surrounded by used-up tissues every night.

I started feeling much better over the past weekend though, yay! I went to a beer festival on Saturday, since even though I’m sick, the tickets were expensive and non-refundable soooooo obviously I still had to go. It was crazy fun and I even woke up feeling really good the next morning. Go beer!

I’m a few days late on this, but I wanted to chat a little bit about International Women’s Day. Like many women, I couldn’t afford to take a day off of work (especially after taking so much sick time), but it was definitely on my mind. Watching so many women stand up for change was such an inspiration, and I was thrilled to hear about Sony backing Girls Make Games, so I decided to devote a Geeky Goodies post to my favorite women in video games.

Over to you!

Who’s your favorite female video game character? Unfortunately, video games with women protagonists are still in the minority, but I feel like the industry is slowly but surely making strides in the right direction. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. Oh no – I hope you feel better soon. Being ill sucks ass. I’ve had a constant cold for the past month or so – can’t seem to get rid of it. I think i’m just going to have to resign myself to the fact that I will be forever sniffing and sneezing. Or maybe I’ll take a page out of your book and see if beer will do the trick.

Lovely selection of goodies by the way. That D Va neon light is amazing. I kind of want it, even though I’ve never actually played Overwatch. I know – blasphemy!

    • Oh my gosh, you should try it out! Overwatch, I mean…but also the beer thing:P I was seriously surprised by how good I felt the day after the beer festival. I’m back to being sniffly and congested today though, so I think it was just a temporary fix.

The light is gorgeous! They have a couple non-Overwatch ones too, but I’m definitely partial to that D.Va one<3 Do you have any interest in playing? I can keep an eye out for the next 'free weekend' event they do and let you know! Just so you could give it a try?

  2. I love two and four! My favorite female game character is probably Zelda or Peach (for nostalgia). A game for either of them would be awesome!
You will feel better! I promise:)

    • I would love a Princess Peach game! She was always one of my favorites to play in Super Smash Bros❤️ And thanks! I know I’ll get better eventually, but I’m such a big baby that I try to whine about it every chance I get:P

      • I get whiny too! I had it bad in January after teasing my husband that I wouldn’t get it. I love Princess Peach in Smash Bros, too!

  3. I’m so sorry! I think so many people have been sick lately. To be honest I love Vivienne from Dragon Age: Inquisition. While I question BioWare’s move about making her a stereotype I do love that she is strong and powerful and can kick ass with the flick of her wrist.

Love all your suggestions on stuff!!

    • Thanks pretty friend! Pretty much everyone at my job got sick around the same time and it was completely awful:( I’m finally feeling almost back to normal though!

I was thinking about Vivienne too! I haven’t played through DA:I in a while but I did love how badass she was.

  4. Noooooo I hope you feel better soon! Being sick is just the worst. 🙁
Also, that Super Smash Sisters tee is AMAZING and I will absolutely be getting one for my BFF. 😀

  5. I hope you’re feeling better now. Being ill is a pain. Don’t feel bad for blogging less. The goodies are so rad, btw 🙂

    • I’m glad you like them!! And thanks girly. I know it’s silly to feel bad about not blogging consistently since we all have real life stuff going on. I just need to figure out how to prioritize all of the things I want to do without putting my blog on the back burner all the time:/

I totally empathize with you sick-wise. My hubby and I have been passing a cold back and forth for a good month now and I can’t wait until it is gone for good!

As far as female video game characters go, I am partial to Ellie from The Last of Us and Clementine from the Walking Dead. I also really liked Merryn in Song of the Deep. I really love that Life is Strange iron on!
