I’m not feeling super inspired to write right now, and I’m pretty sure it’s because I’m obsessed with Neko Atsume. So I figured that since I’m so hooked right now, I should spread the love!

If you haven’t heard of this super addictive mobile game yet, it’s time we remedy that! It’s a simple premise: you exchange fish for goodies that help you lure cats to your yard…so that you can take photos of them, of course. The adorable cartoon kitties use your goodies and eat your cat food, then leave more fish for you to buy more crap for them to play with and eat. It’s the best, seriously.

Okay, so there’s not exactly a lot of action. I mean, you have to exit the game and wait a while for the kitties to be drawn to your yard full of cat-friendly stuff. When you open the game back up, fingers crossed you have a cute kitty or two to admire! Unfortunately, you can’t interact with them in any way. All you can really do is take pictures and add them to your Catbook. But I think the simplicity is what makes the game so hard to put down.

You get to read about all of the kitties that come into your yard, and certain items that you buy can lure ‘rare cats’ like Mr. Meowgi and Billy the Kitten. After a cat spends enough time in your yard, they might leave you their ‘mementos,’ little tokens of love like you would expect from a real cat. I’ve only gotten four mementos so far (including a shiny acorn and a soft brush) but I swear, I get a big grin on my face whenever I get a new one. Is that pathetic? Eh, whatever.

What I’m trying to say is that if you’re a crazy cat lady like me or you just plain like adorable, slightly mindless things, you should run to grab this game like Tubbs running to eat all the fancy food! It’s free to install from the Google Play store and iTunes.

My fave is when they show their little butts! If you clixk on the news button there is a cat with a sign. If you hit the sign and enter the word it says in the space you get extra fish. Fives days of words gets a super bonus!

    • Oh my gosh, how did I not know about that yet?!! Awesome, thanks for the tip! And I know, I love that too<3 I always use pictures of them showing off their butts in my Catbook, haha. I love how they use the burger cushion! So cute.

  2. I’ve avoided getting this app for ages because I know I’ll become hopelessly addicted (much like I did to Meow Meow Star Acres) and spend oodles of time on it haha! But I feel like my kiddo would love it as much as I would. 🙂

    • I tried to resist it too, but it sucked me in:P My sister told me about it forever ago then I kept seeing it all over my friends’ Facebooks and I just gave in, haha. Luckily it’s not really something you can spend hours in a row playing since after you place the toys and goodies, you have to exit the app and wait for the kitties to come!

I seriously cannot get enough of this game. I’ve almost beaten it if you will as I’ve caught all of the cats and only have 10 presents left to get from them 🙁 Will have to find another adorable cat game.

  4. Did you ever play Pokemon Snap for the N64? …basically luring Pokemon so you can take awesome photos of them. Heck, I still love and play the game today. This app sounds pretty similar
