I was recently contacted by Cratejoy to review a couple of their subscription boxes in celebration of Fandom month, which they’re celebrating the entire month of July! One of the boxes that they sent was the highly coveted Anime Bento, and I hopped on the opportunity immediately since I had been eyeing this subscription box for quite some time. As you all probably know by now, I’m a collector of geeky goodies, and this box definitely helped fuel my obsession for all things anime and adorable!

About Anime Bento

For those of you who haven’t heard of Anime Bento, please allow me to enlighten you! It’s a monthly subscription box filled with awesome anime goodies like collectibles, accessories, and snacks, all based on some of the best shows from Japan. In my opinion, it’s a little on the expensive side, which is why I hadn’t taken the plunge and subscribed before. Now that I’ve gotten a chance to check the box out for myself, I can say that it’s definitely worth the price tag! Here’s what was included in my box:

My favorite item was this adorable little plushie! It’s Guts from Kill la Kill, which is an anime that I’ve only caught a few episodes of here and there. Guts is by far my favorite character though, because duh, he’s adorable!

This keychain is pretty dang cute too! It’s Gray Fullbuster from Fairy Tail, which I’ve just never been able to get into. Believe me, I tried…maybe I’ll give it another shot, now that I’ve got some adorable Fairy Tail swag to show off. Have any of you watched this anime and recommend it?

How perfect are these itty bitty charms? I had actually never heard of No Game No Life before getting this box, but thanks to this super cute lanyard, I’ll definitely be checking it out. Here’s a tidbit about the show from Wikipedia:

The series follows Sora and his younger stepsister Shiro, two hikikomori who make up the identity of Blank, an undefeated group of gamers. One day, they are challenged by the god of games to chess and are victorious. As a result, the god summons them to Disboard, a reality which revolves around games. Intent on maintaining their reputation as the undefeated gamers, Sora and Shiro plan to conquer the sixteen ruling species and to usurp the god of games.

Sounds like something I could really get into!

I’ve always loved Hi-Chew! I’d say it’s one of my favorite Japanese candies, so I was thrilled to see a bag of Hi-Chew Bites in my box! You can also see more of the No Game No Life lanyard in this photo. Too cute, right? The colors are so much fun! And even though I’ve never watched the show, I can totally relate to the sentiment. No game, no life indeed=P

There was also a tee, which I completely forgot to take a photo of. Whoops! It feels like a high-quality shirt, which is a major plus. I’ve gotten quite of few tees from subscription boxes that just felt like they would fall apart after a few wears, so I’m glad this one feels like it’ll last a while.

Overall, I absolutely love this box! It’s something that any anime fan would adore, and I’m so glad that Cratejoy asked me to review it. As if that isn’t awesome enough, they’re offering my readers a chance to win one month of a subscription box that the winner chooses! You could try out the Anime Bento for yourself, or you could select any of the hundreds of other boxes that Cratejoy offers. I’ll be running the giveaway until the end of the month, so get those entries in! Good luck, friends<3

  1. I always hesitate to pay for a subscription box beacause I am always afraid that I won’t like its content… This one though looks so great that I hope to be lucky enough to win the giveaway hahah! ^^ Would chose an anime themed box myself anyway, that’s where all the kawaii things are :3

    • I definitely know what you mean! I’ve subscribed to a few different boxes and I love the anticipation of not knowing what you’re going to get…but I always inevitably feel a little let down:( This box was a lot of fun though, I feel like it’d be pretty consistently awesome!

  2. I ate my weight in hi-chews when I lived in Japan! So many adorable things in a box!

I totally want the Anime Bento box- I’m a total nerd for anything associated with Anime!

I have never ordered a subscription box because I never know what’s going to be inside and I’m not sure if I’m going to like it. That being said it seemed like this box had a lot of awesome goodies in it!

    • It really did! But yeah, I know what you mean. I’ve definitely felt let down by subscription boxes before, but most of the time they’re a lot of fun!

  5. There are so many boxes to choose from! I’d choose Fandom of the Month, or something similar to it. I’ve always wanted to try a box like that, but I worry that the month I pick will be the month that sucks lol.

    • Haha, I know what you mean. FotMC is an AWESOME box, but there were a couple months that I just wasn’t into the fandom. That’s always a risk though, I guess!

  6. I’d probably go for the Anime Bento box. I’m a huge anime nerd, so I would love to expand my growing collection.

  7. I think I’m the same as Nyanla, I always hesitate to get subscription boxes because I’m afraid I won’t like the content. I have even looked at Kiwi Crate several times I am not sure I will like it. I gave Stich Fix two tries and so far they have only given me one box with one thing I actually liked….

    • Oh yeah, I can definitely relate. I always end up with one or two things that I don’t really like, which is a bummer. Can’t make everyone happy, I know that…still a fun experience!

Would love the Gorilla Gamer Crate! Thanks for the chance!

Love all the subscription box options. Would choose the The Willie Wags

  10. So cute! I love anime but I don’t buy much anime STUFF anymore because all the ones I like are considered “old” now and I never see much of it around anymore :'( I’ve been meaning to pick up a new, more current series…but they’re all so long and intimidating lol.

I also think OwlCrate looks neat! There’s a Lego one that I like too, but can’t remember what it’s called…
